Sofi Oksanen medverkar i senaste Agenda. Vi mejlade med henne så sent som förra veckan, med anledning av Katrine Kielos Bryssel-reportage i nya numret. Då sa Oksanen bla:
Xenophobia is a bad enemy and literature is a good tool against it. One might understand Ukraine better, for instance, if we’d read more Ukrainian books. So, translations are crucial. And then again: if Ukrainians read more books from other territories, they might find certain matters less tempting. So, if publishing is not strong (unstable territories rarely are good for stable publishing) it might have not-wanted consequences: it excludes people of the territory from outer world and cultural climate. And that makes good soil for xenophobia.
